18-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Tragic Collision with Truck in Parris
A devastating crash on Tuesday afternoon claimed the life of an 18-year-old motorcyclist from Parrish, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The fatal collision occurred at approximately 12:46 PM at the intersection of US-301 (SR-43) and 116th Avenue East.
The motorcyclist was traveling westbound on US-301 at high speed when a large truck with a trailer, driven by a 28-year-old man from Pomona, Missouri, entered the intersection. The truck was turning from 116th Avenue East onto US-301, moving into the motorcyclist’s path. The motorcycle struck the rear left side of the trailer, ejecting the rider.
The young man landed at the northwest corner of the intersection, where emergency responders from Manatee County EMS pronounced him deceased at the scene. The truck driver was unharmed in the crash.
The Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating to determine the exact circumstances leading to the collision.
