2026 DeSoto Children’s Parade and ELC Party in the Park Set for April 3 in Palmetto
Families across Manatee County are invited to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary at the 2026 DeSoto Children’s Parade and Early Learning Coalition Party in the Park on Friday, April 3 at 10 a.m. The event will take place along 10th Street in Palmetto and at Sutton Park.
Hosted in partnership with the Hernando De Soto Historical Society and the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County, the celebration encourages children and youth groups to participate in a parade that highlights their interpretation of American history, culture and values. Organizers are inviting floats and group performances that reflect the theme of turning the pages toward the nation’s future.
To support participation, the first 10 registered parade entries will receive a $500 stipend to assist with float supplies and building materials. Registration is open through March 27 at desotohq.com/children’s-parade.
In addition to the parade, families can enjoy a variety of free activities and resources at Sutton Park. The event will feature community agencies, free parent resources, games for children, the ELC Book Bus, face painting, arts and crafts and additional family-friendly activities.
The celebration highlights the importance of literacy and early learning, reinforcing the message that reading and education help shape America’s future generations.
