The winner of an $803 million Mega Millions jackpot has come forward to claim the massive prize from a ticket purchased in Bradenton.
The Florida Lottery reported Sunday that the $803 million jackpot from the July 28 drawing has been claimed. The winner chose the one-time cash option of $344.2 million rather than receiving the full jackpot through annual payments.
The sole jackpot-winning ticket was purchased at the Wawa at 14510 State Road 70 East in Bradenton. The Quick Pick ticket matched all five white ball numbers plus the Mega Ball to win the grand prize.
The winner’s name was not included in the information released with the announcement.
Florida Lottery officials celebrated the jackpot claim while also highlighting the role lottery ticket sales play in generating funding for education throughout the state.
Under Florida Lottery rules, winners generally have 180 days from the drawing date to claim a prize. Jackpot winners who choose the one-time cash payment must claim the prize within 60 days of the drawing.
The Bradenton ticket was the only ticket nationwide to match all six numbers in the July 28 drawing, making its holder the sole winner of the $803 million jackpot.
The $344.2 million cash option represents the jackpot’s estimated lump-sum value before applicable federal taxes and other required withholding.
The win also puts a national spotlight on the State Road 70 Wawa, where the life-changing ticket was sold, turning an ordinary Quick Pick purchase into a multimillion-dollar payday.
