Bradenton & Sarasota, FL — This December, The Pops Orchestra proudly presents its third production of A Christmas Carol, the Concert, Bob Christianson’s celebrated musical retelling of the timeless Charles Dickens classic. In collaboration with Rick Kerby, artistic director of the Manatee Performing Arts Center, and the acclaimed Manatee High School Chorus Program under the direction of Tommy Jomisko, The Pops Orchestra brings this Broadway-caliber event of Ebenezer Scrooge’s journey to life through soaring music, vivid storytelling, and dynamic choreography.
Originally created for the Emmy Award–nominated 2013 PBS broadcast, A Christmas Carol, the Concert transforms the beloved holiday tale into an exhilarating symphonic spectacle. Audiences will experience an emotionally rich performance featuring a full chorus, live 65-piece orchestra, talented actors, powerful vocalists, and expressive dancers—all weaving together a magical world that captures the true spirit of Christmas.
“This production combines the best of theatrical storytelling with the grandeur of symphonic music,” says Dr. Robyn Bell, the orchestra’s managing and artistic director. “We are thrilled to partner with the Manatee Performing Arts Center and Manatee High School Chorus. Their artistry elevates this cherished story into a moving celebration for all ages.”
From haunting melodies of Scrooge’s past to triumphant cries of hope and redemption, the show invites audiences to rediscover the meaning of compassion, community, and holiday joy. With dazzling staging and unforgettable performances, this heartwarming musical event is sure to leave audiences proclaiming, along with Tiny Tim, “God Bless Us, Everyone!”
