All Counties in Florida Are Invited to “Go Over the Edge” to Fight Child Hunger & Homelessness
All Florida residents are invited to take part in one of the year’s most unique fundraising events as participants rappel down the side of the Palmetto Marriott Resort & Spa on May 23, 2026, to support critical programs addressing child hunger and homelessness in the community. Manatee, Sarasota, Pinellas, Tampa, Lee, Pasco, Lakeland, Orlando, Let’s Go!
Hosted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Over the Edge offers community members the rare opportunity to legally rappel down a multi-story hotel while raising awareness and funds for children in need. The goal is to raise $100,000 to ensure more children have access to nutritious meals and a safe place to sleep.
“This event is about bravery, compassion, and most importantly, community,” Deral Pitts, Director of Community Relations & Development said. “Every person who goes over the edge, whether literally as a rappeler or figuratively as a donor or volunteer, helps change a child’s life.”

Who Can Participate: The general public is encouraged to rappel, donate, sponsor, or attend as spectators.
Participants who choose to rappel will gear up and descend the exterior of the building, cheered on by community members gathered below. The event blends adventure with purpose, empowering individuals to take an unforgettable leap toward ending child hunger and homelessness.
Families, businesses, and community groups are invited to get involved through sponsorships, donations, or by registering to rappel. Spectators are also welcome to attend and cheer on participants throughout the day.
