Annual Million Dollar Day and 2025 "Good Scout" Award Honor Southwest Florida’s Scouting Legacy
The Southwest Florida Council of Scouting America celebrated its Annual Million Dollar Day on Thursday, March 13, 2025, marking a significant milestone in fundraising efforts to support local scouting programs. The event, held at Manatee Performing Arts Center in Manatee County and simultaneously in Lee and Collier County, gathered community leaders, business sponsors, and scouting supporters to contribute towards vital programs that instill leadership, outdoor skills, and character-building in thousands of youth across the region.
A highlight of the day was the presentation of the prestigious 2025 “Good Scout” Award, an honor bestowed upon individuals who exemplify the values of Scouting through service and leadership. This year’s recipients, John and Amanda Horne, were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the community and commitment to guiding the next generation of leaders.
Kyle Trask of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earned the distinction of Eagle Scout and shared personal stories of growth and adventure within the program. Attendees also had the opportunity to pledge financial support, reinforcing the council’s mission to expand access to Scouting activities, camp scholarships, and leadership development initiatives.
With the success of the 2025 Million Dollar Day, the Southwest Florida Council continues to advance its commitment to preparing young people for a lifetime of character and service. For more information on supporting local Scouting efforts, visit www.swflcouncilbsa.org.
