Astoria on 9th Opens 120 Affordable Senior Housing Units in Bradenton
A new affordable housing community for seniors has officially opened in Bradenton, offering 120 units at significantly reduced rental rates. Located at 2244 Ninth Street West, Astoria is on 9th and is a $37.4 million project designed to address the growing demand for senior housing in the region.
Developed through a partnership between Housing Trust Group and NBA Hall of Famer Alonzo Mourning’s nonprofit AM Affordable Housing, the five-story complex features one- and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 635 to 907 square feet. Monthly rents range from $322 to $1,316, well below the area’s average rent for similar units.
Astoria on 9th is Housing Trust Group’s first senior-focused development in Bradenton and its fourth overall in the city. To qualify for residency, applicants must be at least 62 years old and meet low-income thresholds based on area median income (AMI) percentages of 22%, 30%, or 60%, as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The complex's amenities include a clubroom, cyber café with a catering kitchen and bar, fitness center, surface parking, and a dog park. Residents also benefit from supportive programs such as adult literacy training and assistance with groceries, housekeeping, and laundry.
With a rising senior population in Manatee County and across Florida, Astoria on 9th is positioned to provide a much-needed solution for elderly residents seeking stable, affordable housing. Applications are now being accepted online at AstoriaHTGM.com or by calling 941-538-5950.
