BayCare Breaks Ground on North Manatee’s First Hospital, Opening Planned for 2028
BayCare Health System has officially broken ground on BayCare Manatee, a new 154-bed hospital set to become the first hospital north of the Manatee River in Manatee County. Located at the intersection of Moccasin Wallow Road and Interstate 75 in Parrish, the project marks a significant expansion of health care services in the rapidly growing northern region of the county.
The hospital is part of a larger $563 million health care campus that will anchor the 288-acre Robinson Gateway development, including residential housing, retail spaces, and a hotel. The site is located approximately one mile north of the I-275 interchange.
In addition to the hospital, BayCare will open a 45,000-square-foot outpatient medical arts building in 2026. The facility, known as the HealthHub, will house BayCare Medical Group providers offering primary and specialty care services and lab and imaging capabilities.
When completed in 2028, BayCare Manatee will serve as a comprehensive acute care facility offering services in general surgery, orthopedics, neurology, gastroenterology, cardiology, and a dedicated focus on obstetrics. Officials noted that more than half of Manatee County’s expectant mothers travel outside the area to give birth—a trend BayCare aims to reverse with this new facility.
BayCare Manatee will also be the first nonprofit hospital in the county. The Clearwater-based health system operates 16 hospitals across Hillsborough, Pasco, Pinellas, and Polk counties and now brings its mission-driven care model to Manatee County’s underserved northern region.
The expansion comes as north Manatee experiences rapid population growth, prompting increased demand for local medical services and infrastructure.
