Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County Marks 80 Years of Youth Impact and Community Partnership
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County is celebrating 80 years of service, highlighting a legacy that began in 1946 with a simple but powerful mission: to provide local children with a safe and supportive place to go after school.
That mission was first set in motion by the Bradenton Kiwanis Club, whose members recognized the need for structured, positive environments where young people could grow, learn, and thrive. What started as a small community effort has since evolved into a far-reaching organization serving thousands of youth across multiple sites throughout Manatee County.
Over the decades, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Manatee County has expanded its programs to focus on academic success, character development, and leadership skills. Today, the organization plays a vital role in helping children and teens build confidence, explore their potential, and prepare for future opportunities.
The 80-year milestone reflects not only the organization’s growth, but also the enduring strength of community partnerships that have supported its mission. Generations of families have been impacted by its programs, with many former members returning as mentors, volunteers, and advocates.
As the organization looks ahead, its foundation remains rooted in the same vision established eight decades ago—creating a safe, encouraging space where every child has the opportunity to succeed.
