Bradenton Area Convention Center Unveils $54 Million Expansion and Renovation
The Bradenton Area Convention Center has completed a major $54 million expansion and renovation, marking the end of a years-long effort to modernize the 1980s-era facility and strengthen its role in regional tourism and economic development.
The updated complex now includes 95,000 square feet of conference space, highlighted by a new grand ballroom, multiple breakout and meeting rooms, and 32,400 square feet of flexible event space. Two 16,000-square-foot outdoor plazas add additional room for gatherings and special events. Officials estimate the enhanced center will generate an annual economic impact of $30 million to $40 million.
Local leaders say the project arrives at a pivotal time for the region, as Palmetto and Bradenton continue significant redevelopment efforts. The convention center is connected to the adjacent 252-room Marriott Hotel, creating a unified campus capable of hosting large conferences, trade shows, and corporate events.
Officials also emphasize the project's importance to Palmetto, where many residents and stakeholders view the updated venue as a catalyst for new business activity and increased visitor spending. The expansion is expected to help increase year-round tourism and drive further economic growth across northern Manatee County.
The Bradenton Area Convention Center now stands as the only facility of its size between St. Petersburg and Naples, positioning it as a key asset for regional events and hospitality.
