A Bradenton Beach Police Department officer suffered minor injuries after his patrol car was struck by an alleged drunk driver Saturday night near Cortez Road and 75th Street West.
Officer Johnny Tsakiri had just finished his shift when the crash occurred. He suffered bruises and scratches from the airbag deployment and was taken to a hospital for evaluation before being released.
The patrol vehicle was totaled in the crash, with significant damage to the front of the car.
Police identified the other driver as Yohendris Pozo Hernandez. He was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
