The Bradenton Fire Department claimed victory over the Bradenton Police Department during the Boots vs. Badges charity softball game at LECOM Park on Thursday, November 5, bringing local first responders and community members together for an evening of friendly competition and fundraising.
The event featured police officers and firefighters trading their regular duties for a night on the softball field, competing for bragging rights and a trophy while raising money for charitable causes supported by both departments.
The Bradenton Fire Department emerged victorious, earning the trophy and another round of bragging rights over its public safety counterparts. Although the Bradenton Police Department acknowledged the defeat, the agency maintained a sense of humor about the outcome, declining to share the final score while emphasizing the team’s sportsmanship.
Beyond the competition, the event provided an opportunity for residents to interact with local first responders in a relaxed setting while supporting important community initiatives. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit charities associated with the Bradenton Police and Fire departments.
The Bradenton Marauders and Pittsburgh Pirates helped make the event possible through their continued support of local first responders. LECOM Park, which serves as the home stadium for the Marauders and the spring training facility for the Pirates, provided the setting for the charitable matchup.
The City of Bradenton recognized both departments for their participation and thanked the Marauders, Pirates, and community members who attended to support the teams. The city also acknowledged the Bradenton Marauders for providing photographs from the event.
While the Fire Department walked away with the trophy, the evening highlighted the camaraderie between Bradenton’s public safety agencies and their shared commitment to serving the community.
The Boots vs. Badges game demonstrates how friendly competition can bring residents and first responders together while generating support for charitable programs benefiting the local community.
