Bradenton Kiwanis Named Florida District Club of the Year for 2023–24
The Bradenton Kiwanis Club has been named the Florida District’s Club of the Year for 2023–24, a distinction that celebrates the organization’s leadership in building stronger communities for children and families in Manatee County.
Two standout projects defined the club’s year of service. The first was its support for the new ADA-accessible playground at Tom Bennett Park, ensuring children of all abilities have the opportunity to play side by side in an inclusive space. The second was its continued hands-on work at the Manatee County Fair, where members volunteered countless hours to help one of the county’s most beloved traditions run smoothly, fostering a safe, family-centered atmosphere.
Founded in 1922, the Bradenton Kiwanis Club is part of Kiwanis International, a global network whose mission is to improve the world one child and one community at a time. Locally, the club has championed projects such as Christmas in August for homeless students, scholarships for local youth, support for the Boys & Girls Clubs, and investments in the Manatee Performing Arts Center.
The club’s recognition as Florida District Club of the Year drew the attention of national leaders. U.S. Congressman Vern Buchanan sent a formal letter of recognition, commending Bradenton Kiwanis for its service and praising the club’s legacy of improving lives in the region. His acknowledgment underscored the value of volunteerism and the impact local service organizations have on the broader community.
With more than a century of service behind them, Bradenton Kiwanis continues to be a driving force for progress. From building playgrounds that promote inclusion to preserving county traditions, the club remains dedicated to its mission of serving the children of the world and strengthening Manatee County for generations to come.
