The year-round lights that illuminate the oak trees along Main Street in downtown Bradenton will soon be replaced as part of a Downtown Community Redevelopment Agency project that also includes maintenance and care for the trees.
The existing lights were repaired following the 2024 storms but will now be removed and replaced. During the process, staples used to secure the old lighting will be carefully removed, and the small holes left behind will be treated to help protect the trees from moisture and pests.
The oak trees will also be professionally pruned to encourage healthy growth before the new lighting is installed.
Once installation is complete, the new lights will be placed on an annual maintenance schedule designed to keep the system in good condition and Main Street illuminated throughout the year.
The project is being funded through the Downtown CRA, which uses dedicated redevelopment funds for projects and improvements within Bradenton’s downtown redevelopment area.
