Bradenton Man Arrested After Shooting Nephew During Dispute

A Bradenton man is behind bars after a heated family argument turned violent at a local apartment complex Tuesday morning.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 10:40 a.m. to reports of a shooting at the La-Mirada Garden Apartments, located in the 1600 block of 55th Avenue Circle East. Authorities say 52-year-old Marceleno Rosa and his 39-year-old nephew were involved in a verbal dispute over the phone that escalated into a physical confrontation in person.

During the altercation, Rosa allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired a single shot, striking his nephew on the right side. Deputies arriving at the scene quickly detained Rosa and recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Rosa was taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The investigation remains ongoing.
