Bradenton Man Charged with DUI Manslaughter After Fatal April Crash in Sarasota
A 21-year-old Bradenton man has been charged with DUI manslaughter following an April crash that killed one passenger on Northgate Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 2:45 a.m. on April 19 at 1767 Northgate Boulevard, near the intersection with Independence Boulevard. Troopers say Kevin Hernandez-Alonso was driving a BMW westbound at a high rate of speed when the vehicle rotated, veered off the roadway, and struck a tree.
The crash resulted in the death of the rear-seat passenger, a 21-year-old male. Hernandez-Alonso and another 21-year-old male passenger suffered only minor injuries.
Following a comprehensive investigation, Hernandez-Alonso was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter. The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
