Bradenton Man Killed While Attempting to Repair Bicycle on 3rd Street West
A 30-year-old Bradenton man was killed early Friday morning after being struck by a truck while attempting to repair his bicycle in a travel lane, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:22 a.m. at the intersection of 3rd Street West and 53rd Avenue West in Bradenton.
Investigators said the bicyclist was stopped in the inside lane of the roadway and was attempting to fix his bicycle when he was struck by a 2019 Ram 5500 truck driven by a 59-year-old Dover man.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured.
The crash led to the temporary closure of the eastbound lanes of 3rd Street West while troopers conducted their investigation. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No information regarding potential charges has been released.
