Bradenton man sentenced to 10 years for armed home invasion; detectives seek two additional suspects
James Flowers, Jr. has been sentenced to 10 years in the Florida Department of Corrections for his role in an armed home invasion that occurred on March 3, 2023, in the 400 block of Cantabria Trail.
According to the Bradenton Police Department, Flowers, James Reid, and two other suspects entered the residence that morning, held the homeowner at gunpoint, and stole jewelry, cash, and other items. A woman and three children were inside the home at the time. DNA collected at the scene linked Flowers to the crime, investigators said.
Arrest warrants for Flowers were issued in September 2023, and he was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in January 2024. Flowers entered a plea of nolo contendere to home invasion robbery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He received a 10-year state prison sentence for the home invasion and a minimum of three years for the firearm possession charge.
Reid was also arrested in connection with the home invasion and faces additional charges of murder and attempted murder, according to police. Detectives are continuing efforts to identify the remaining two suspects.
