Bradenton Man with Elevated Blood Alcohol Level Arrested After Deadly I-75 DUI Crash
A Bradenton man was arrested after an afternoon crash on Interstate-75 Sunday that killed two people and left him facing DUI-related charges, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred shortly before 3:40 p.m. near mile marker 203 on northbound I-75. A Toyota Camry driven by 48-year-old Fred Matthew Donalson of Bradenton struck a Nissan Pathfinder, forcing the SUV off the roadway and into a tree. Both the driver and a passenger in the Pathfinder were pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers arrested Donalson at the crash site and charged him with DUI manslaughter. Initial reports from law enforcement indicated his blood alcohol level was approximately twice the legal limit for driving at the time of the collision, reflecting significant impairment.
Donalson was booked into the Sarasota County Jail and is being held without bond pending further court proceedings. State troopers continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash and have emphasized the dangers of impaired driving on area roadways.
