Bradenton Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck by SUV Near Apartment Complex
A 70-year-old Bradenton man died after being struck by an SUV while walking on a sidewalk near an apartment complex Sunday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at about 1:45 p.m. along 34th Avenue Drive near the entrance to the Mira Lagos Apartments. Troopers said a Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling south when it turned into the apartment complex and struck the pedestrian, who was walking north on the sidewalk.
The victim suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died.
Three people were inside the SUV at the time of the crash, including a 38-year-old Bradenton man, an 8-year-old Bradenton boy and a 31-year-old woman from Fort Pierce.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash remains under investigation. Investigators are working to determine which of the two adults in the vehicle was driving when the collision occurred.
