Bradenton Police Target Impaired Driving in Holiday Weekend Crackdown
Bradenton Police Department’s Traffic Unit and Patrol officers took to the streets Friday night as part of the nationwide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign, resulting in arrests and dozens of citations.
The enforcement operation led to two DUI arrests and 33 citations issued for various traffic infractions. Another eight drivers were given warnings during the nighttime initiative.
The campaign, which runs through Labor Day, is part of a national effort to reduce impaired driving and increase roadway safety during one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. Officers are focusing on drivers who are under the influence, speeding, or not wearing seatbelts.
Police are reminding residents and visitors to plan ahead before celebrating, designate a sober driver, obey speed limits, and always wear a seatbelt. The department says these proactive enforcement efforts are aimed at saving lives and preventing crashes on Bradenton’s roadways.
