Bradenton Prepares for April 25 Grand Parade with Road Closures and Traffic Changes
Bradenton is gearing up for one of its largest annual events: the 2026 Grand Parade returns on Saturday, April 25, with a 7:30 p.m. start. Organizers are encouraging residents and visitors to plan ahead for road closures and increased traffic as thousands are expected to line the parade route.
Preparations will begin early in the day, with parade staging activities starting at 1 p.m. This will require the closure of Manatee Avenue West from 1st Street/US-41 to 14th Street West as crews and participants set up in advance of the evening festivities.
By 6 p.m., additional closures will take effect along the parade route. Manatee Avenue West will be closed from 14th Street West to 43rd Street West, and traffic will not be permitted to cross the avenue once barricades are in place. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes well in advance to avoid delays.
Further restrictions will begin at 7 p.m., just prior to the parade’s start. Ninth Street West will close between Manatee Avenue West and 3rd Avenue West. At the same time, the southbound lanes of the Green Bridge connecting Palmetto to Bradenton will be shut down. Northbound traffic on the bridge will remain open, but access will be limited to drivers entering from 3rd Avenue West. The intersection at 9th Street West and 3rd Avenue West will remain open throughout the day.
The annual Grand Parade, hosted in partnership with the Hernando De Soto Historical Society and local government agencies, is a longstanding tradition that draws large crowds to downtown Bradenton. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to secure viewing spots and to review the full list of closures and detours ahead of time.
City officials emphasize that planning ahead and allowing extra travel time will help ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone attending the event.
