Bradenton School Zone Cameras Record 68 Speeding Violations on First Day of School
Bradenton drivers racked up 68 school zone speeding violations on the first day of the 2026-2027 school year, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
The violations were recorded on Monday, Aug. 10, by the city’s school zone speed detection cameras. Each violation involved a vehicle traveling at least 10 mph over the posted speed limit during designated school zone enforcement hours.
Drivers cited through the camera enforcement program face a $100 civil penalty.
Three school zones accounted for the majority of violations on the first day. Cameras near Sea Breeze Elementary School, G.D. Rogers Garden-Bullock Elementary School and Ballard Elementary School recorded a combined 40 violations.
Those three locations represented approximately 59% of all school zone speeding violations recorded in Bradenton that day.
The Bradenton Police Department is reminding motorists to slow down and pay close attention to posted school zone speed limits as students return to classrooms and pedestrian, bicycle and school bus traffic increases around campuses.
Bradenton’s school zone camera program is designed to enforce reduced speed limits during designated periods surrounding the beginning and end of the school day. Motorists should watch for school zone signs and flashing signals indicating when reduced speed limits are in effect.
