Bradenton Secures $4 Million in Federal Funding for City Park Stormwater and State Road 64 Safety Improvements
The City of Bradenton has secured an additional $4 million in federal Community Project Funding to support key infrastructure and public safety projects aimed at improving the quality of life across the community.
The largest portion of the funding, $3 million, will help advance stormwater improvements connected to the City Park project near LECOM Park. The project is designed to expand the park complex with additional athletic fields and expanded parking while also planning for a future Community Resource Center that will support youth programs, educational opportunities, and partnerships with local organizations.
City officials say the stormwater improvements are a critical component of the larger City Park initiative, helping manage water flow and improve drainage in the surrounding area while supporting future development of the expanded recreational space.
An additional $1 million in federal funding will be directed toward safety improvements along State Road 64, one of the region’s busiest corridors. The investment is expected to help address roadway safety concerns and improve conditions for motorists traveling through the area.
The new funding was made possible through federal Community Project Funding secured with the support of U.S. Representative Vern Buchanan and federal partners working with the city.
With this latest allocation, Bradenton officials say the city has received more than $150 million in combined state and federal funding in recent years. Those investments have supported a range of infrastructure upgrades, public safety initiatives, and community development projects designed to accommodate growth and strengthen local services.
