Bradenton Seeks Public Input on $110K COVID-19 Recovery Funding
The City of Bradenton is moving forward with a proposed amendment to its 2019–2020 Annual Action Plan to reallocate more than $110,000 in federal relief funds. The money, provided through a U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus (CDBG-CV) allocation, will be directed to local nonprofits to strengthen COVID-19 prevention and response efforts.
The proposal designates $55,327.55 for Turning Points to expand infectious disease response, sanitation measures, pathogen reduction, and telehealth access. An additional $55,327.54 will be provided to Manatee County Rural Health, Inc. to support community engagement and education programs aimed at reducing transmission and protecting public health.
These funds do not come from local tax dollars but are part of federal assistance required to be used for COVID-19 recovery within the community.
The public comment period runs from August 10 through September 10, 2025. A public hearing is scheduled for August 22 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Bradenton City Hall in the Council Chambers. The City Commission is expected to consider final adoption on September 10, 2025.
Residents are encouraged to submit feedback during the comment period or attend the hearing to share input on how these resources are allocated.
