Bradenton Woman Arrested After Allegedly Injuring Deputy in Walmart Flee
A Manatee County woman has been taken into custody after a week-long search in connection with a theft investigation and the injury of a sheriff’s deputy.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, the charges stem from an Aug. 5 incident at the Walmart on State Road 64 East in Bradenton. Investigators said 27-year-old Courtney Stanley fled the store with her 2-year-old daughter unrestrained in the vehicle. While speeding away, she allegedly struck a deputy with her car, knocking him to the ground.
The deputy was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Stanley had been on the run for a week before deputies located and arrested her. She is facing multiple charges, including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, child neglect, and theft.
Authorities said the child was not injured and is now safe. The case remains under investigation.
