Bradenton Woman Shot Four Times at Workplace Fighting for Life in ICU After Deadly Shooting
A Bradenton woman described by her family as a living miracle remains in the intensive care unit after being shot multiple times during a violent attack at her workplace last week. The incident unfolded around 12:48 p.m. Thursday inside a medical laboratory complex in the 5200 block of 4th Avenue Circle East in Bradenton, according to police reports.
Bradenton Police say the suspect, 29-year-old Keith Roberts Jr., entered the facility through an unlocked door and walked directly to the desk where his ex-girlfriend, 29-year-old Myshaela Burnham, was working. Roberts allegedly shot Burnham at point-blank range, killing her. A co-worker who witnessed the attack was also struck by gunfire and critically wounded.
The surviving woman was shot four times and underwent emergency treatment before being placed in the hospital’s ICU, where she continues to recover, her family said. Relatives called her survival a living miracle, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of community support and prayers as she faces a long road to recovery.
Following the attack, witnesses reported seeing a vehicle leaving the scene. Police tracked the vehicle toward the DeSoto Bridge and located it in Palmetto within about 25 minutes. Roberts was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. He is being held at the Manatee County Jail with no bond, law enforcement officials said.
Bradenton Police Chief Jason Cramer described the shooting as a tragic act of domestic violence that shattered the workplace and the lives of those involved. Investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to the attack, and police urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
