Bradenton’s Village of the Arts will come alive with colorful costumes, music, art, and cultural traditions during the 22nd Annual Día de los Muertos Festival of the Skeletons on Friday, November 6, and Saturday, November 7, 2026. The free, family-friendly celebration honors the lives of loved ones who have passed while showcasing the creativity and cultural diversity of the local arts community.
The two-day festival will take place on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the Village of the Arts, located at 1227 12th Avenue West in Bradenton.
This year’s celebration will feature a special tribute to renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, whose distinctive artwork, vibrant colors, and cultural influence continue to inspire artists worldwide. The main Community Village Shrine will honor Kahlo, bringing additional artistic significance to the annual event.
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican observance that celebrates the lives and memories of deceased family members and friends. Rather than focusing solely on mourning, the tradition emphasizes remembrance through decorated altars, photographs, flowers, artwork, and meaningful personal offerings.
Throughout the festival, participating galleries will display elaborate shrines and altars honoring loved ones, cultural figures, and even cherished pets. A Community Shrine and Memory Wall will provide visitors with an opportunity to remember family members and friends by contributing photographs, written messages, and keepsakes.
Festival activities will include live music, strolling musicians, food trucks, pop-up art vendors, and opportunities to explore the Village’s galleries and studios. Visitors are encouraged to participate in the celebration by wearing traditional Día de los Muertos attire, including colorful clothing, flower crowns, skeleton costumes, and decorative face paint.
The first 300 festival guests will receive complimentary festival goodies.
The Festival of the Skeletons has become one of the Village of the Arts’ largest annual community celebrations, bringing residents and visitors together to experience Mexican cultural traditions while supporting Bradenton’s local artists and small businesses.
Admission is free, although food and merchandise purchases are additional. Free street parking will be available throughout the Village, with additional parking at the vacant lot near 13th Avenue West and 12th Street West.
The event offers Manatee County families an opportunity to experience a cultural celebration that combines artistic expression, community connections, and remembrance.
