Burn Ban Extended as Dry Conditions Persist Across Manatee County
The countywide burn ban has been extended as dry weather continues to elevate wildfire risk across the region. Officials announced the ban will remain in effect through Monday, January 19, at 11:59 p.m., citing ongoing dry conditions and heightened fire danger.
The extension applies throughout Manatee County and restricts open burning activities that could spark brush fires or threaten homes, businesses, and natural areas. Burn bans are typically enacted during periods of low rainfall, dry vegetation, and increased winds, when fires can spread quickly and become difficult to control.
Residents are urged to review the current restrictions and permitted uses before engaging in any outdoor activities that could involve fire or sparks. While certain uses may still be allowed under specific conditions, violations of the burn ban can result in fines or enforcement action.
Manatee County Government continues to monitor weather and ground conditions and will reassess the ban as circumstances change. Officials encourage residents to remain vigilant, report smoke or suspicious activity promptly, and take extra precautions to reduce the risk of accidental fires.
