Burn Ban Extended in Manatee County as Dry Conditions Persist Through Dec. 1
Manatee County officials have extended the countywide burn ban through 11:59 p.m. on Monday, December 1, citing increasingly dry conditions and elevated fire risks. With November on track to become the driest month of the season, emergency management leaders are urging residents to remain cautious—particularly as Thanksgiving gatherings and holiday cooking increase outdoor activity.
The continued ban prohibits open burning of yard debris, campfires, and other non-permitted fires. County officials emphasized that even small ignitions can spread quickly in the current weather pattern.
Some activities are still allowed under the extension, but only with proper supervision or authorization. These include attended outdoor grills and cookers, agricultural or land-clearing burns approved by the Florida Forest Service, properly permitted public fireworks displays with fire suppression personnel on-site, and flares discharged over the Gulf for marine safety.
The county will continue monitoring weather conditions and fire danger indicators. Any future updates to the burn ban will be announced through Manatee County Government’s official channels. Residents are encouraged to stay alert and take steps to reduce fire risks during the busy holiday week.
