Canteen Dedication & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The Salvation Army of Manatee County proudly announces the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony of its brand-new Disaster Service Canteen on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 1:15 p.m. The location of the dedication and ceremony is 5328 24th Street E, Bradenton, FL 34203.
For more than one hundred years, The Salvation Army has been on the front lines serving Manatee County in times of crisis. The new Disaster Service Canteen represents the next chapter in that mission, providing critical support during hurricanes, fires, floods, and other emergencies. Fully equipped with mobile food service capability, the canteen will ensure rapid response to disaster zones, bringing not only hot meals but also compassion, hope, and spiritual care to those affected.
"This Canteen is more than a vehicle—it is a lifeline for our community," said Deral Pitts, Director of Community Relations and Development. "When disaster strikes, people need immediate nourishment, comfort, and connection. With this new unit, we will be able to respond faster, reach more people, and make a greater impact when our community needs us most."
The addition of the Disaster Service Canteen will also strengthen partnerships with local first responders, emergency management agencies, and volunteers, ensuring coordinated efforts when disaster relief is most critical.
The Salvation Army of Manatee County invites the entire community and all media outlets to be part of this milestone dedication and join in celebrating a new tool that will bring healing and hope to neighbors during their most challenging times.
