Charge Upgraded to Aggravated Manslaughter in Bradenton Child Drowning Case
The State Attorney’s Office for Florida’s 12th Judicial Circuit has upgraded charges against a Bradenton woman following the drowning death of her 4-year-old daughter at an apartment complex pool in May.
Rosette Pierrecius, 32, was originally arrested on May 10, 2026, on a charge of child neglect causing great bodily harm. Prosecutors have now charged her with aggravated manslaughter of a child, a first-degree felony.
According to investigators, the incident occurred on the evening of May 9 at the Kendall Ridge Apartment complex pool located at 302 26th Ave. W. Detectives said Pierrecius brought her daughter, who was unable to swim, to a pool party at the complex.
Although the pool officially closed at dusk, several attendees remained in the pool area. Investigators determined that approximately two hours after arriving, the child was left unattended near the water. The child entered the pool, slipped beneath the surface, and remained underwater for about nine minutes before being discovered.
Bradenton police officers were dispatched to the apartment complex at 9:10 p.m. and arrived within minutes. Officers immediately began CPR before emergency medical personnel transported the child to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
During the investigation, Pierrecius told detectives she had consumed six beers at the gathering and stated that she briefly left her daughter in the care of others while using the restroom. However, investigators said surveillance footage showed she was away from the pool area for several minutes and was using her phone and socializing after returning.
Pierrecius remains in custody at the Manatee County Jail.
Detectives continue to seek additional witnesses who attended the pool party or were in the area of the pool that evening. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Brian Gates at brian.gates@bradentonpd.com.
