Child Dies in Drowning at Bradenton Apartment Complex, Mother Arrested
A 4-year-old child died Saturday night following a drowning incident during a pool party at the Kendall Ridge Apartment Complex in Bradenton, according to the Bradenton Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched at 9:10 p.m. to 302 26th Ave. W. and arrived within three minutes. Officers immediately began CPR before emergency medical personnel transported the child to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Detectives said a large group of people, including members of the child’s family, were attending the gathering when the incident occurred. Investigators determined the child had been swimming when she slipped underwater and remained at the bottom of the pool for several minutes before being discovered.
Authorities identified the child’s mother as Rosette Pierrecius, 32. She was arrested Sunday morning and charged with child neglect causing great bodily harm.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police also noted that drowning remains the leading cause of death in the United States for children ages 1 to 4 and emphasized the importance of assigning a dedicated adult “water watcher” during swimming activities, even when multiple adults or lifeguards are present.
