Cimillo Homers in Marauders Rain Shortened Loss
Pimentel strikes two hits, Bradenton drops series to Fort Myers
Nick Cimillo crushed a solo homer during a 5-3 rain-shortened loss for the Bradenton Marauders (15-26, 46-60) against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (21-20, 58-48) on Sunday from LECOM Park. Antonio Pimentel earned two hits, and Bradenton dropped the six-game series to Fort Myers.
The Mighty Mussels scored three runs in the top of the sixth, while the Marauders answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Nick Yorke walked, Cimillo singled, and Tre Phelps reached on an error to load the bases. A double by Pimentel scored Yorke and Cimillo, cutting the deficit 3-2.
After Fort Myers scratched across two runs in the top of the eighth, Cimillo socked a solo homer in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 5-3 ballgame.
In the bottom of the ninth, the game was called due to inclement weather, finalizing a 5-3 win for the Mighty Mussels.
Bradenton takes the day off on Monday before beginning a six-game series against the Lakeland Flying Tigers on Tuesday. First pitch from Publix Field is set for 6:30 p.m.
