City of Bradenton Offers Up to $20,000 in Homebuyer Assistance, Opens Housing Rehab Funding
The City of Bradenton is now accepting applications for two housing assistance programs to support first-time homebuyers and homeowners in need of property improvements within city limits.
Through the State Housing Initiatives Partnership program, eligible first-time homebuyers may receive up to $20,000 in purchase assistance. The funding can be used for down payment assistance, principal reduction, or to lower mortgage interest rates. HUD FHA 203K loans are also eligible under the program.
The assistance is provided as a loan, with priority given to households with special needs. Applicants must complete a HUD-certified first-time homebuyer course and secure mortgage approval before submitting an application. Income limits apply, with maximum thresholds ranging from $105,660 for a single-person household to $198,940 for an eight-person household.
In addition, the city is offering funding through its Housing Rehabilitation Assistance Program. This program is designed to help homeowners make necessary improvements, including installing accessibility features for residents with disabilities. Special needs households are also prioritized for this funding.
To qualify, applicants must own their home, be current on property taxes and any existing mortgage, and meet the same income requirements as the homebuyer assistance program.
Both programs are administered through the City of Bradenton’s Housing and Community Development Division. Residents interested in applying or seeking additional information can contact the division directly at 941-932-9464 or by email at housing@bradentonfl.gov.
