Cold Snap in Bradenton: Salvation Army Opens Shelter as Temperatures Drop to 33 Degrees
Bradenton residents are bracing for an unseasonably cold stretch as overnight wind chills are expected to dip to a frigid 33 degrees. While Florida’s Department of Transportation owns snow plows—an unusual fact for the Sunshine State—Bradenton won’t be needing them. However, the cold weather poses risks for vulnerable populations, pets, and those without adequate shelter.
To provide relief during the chilly nights ahead, the Salvation Army of Manatee County has announced the opening of its cold weather shelter at 1204 14th St W. Starting tonight, the shelter will be available free of charge to those in need and will remain open through Wednesday and Thursday nights.
Officials urge residents to take precautions, such as bringing pets indoors and checking on neighbors who may need assistance during the cold snap. Community members are also encouraged to spread awareness of available resources to ensure everyone stays warm and safe.
Updates regarding additional shelter options or emergency services will be provided as they become available. Residents should stay informed and prepared as the region experiences this unexpected winter chill.
