Community Invited to Help Shape $252 Million Disaster Recovery Plan at May 13 Meeting
Manatee County residents are invited to participate in the second Community Input Meeting for the "Lasting Manatee" initiative on Tuesday, May 13, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Central Library, located at 1301 Barcarrota Blvd W in Bradenton.
The county is set to receive $252,711,000 in Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to support long-term recovery from the federally declared 2024 storms, Debby, Helene, and Milton. Officials are seeking public input to help identify unmet needs and prioritize projects for funding.
The meeting offers an opportunity for community members to share feedback on the types of recovery efforts they believe would be most beneficial. Eligible projects must relate to the 2024 storms and can include restoration of housing, infrastructure (such as roads, bridges, and stormwater systems), mitigation, economic revitalization, and public services. Special focus will be placed on initiatives that assist low—to moderate-income communities.
