Community Survey Launched to Shape New Manatee County Gardening Program for 2026
The beautiful and productive landscapes enjoyed throughout Manatee County depend heavily on the health of local pollinators and beneficial insects—from bees that pollinate fruits and vegetables to ladybugs that naturally control garden pests.
To help residents better support these vital species and to provide practical tools for creating thriving, resilient home gardens, Manatee County Natural Resources is preparing to launch a new comprehensive community education program in 2026 focused on beneficial insects and responsible pest management.
Before planning workshops, developing plant guides, or scheduling classes, county staff are asking residents to help shape the program by sharing their knowledge, interests, and needs.
A brief five-minute community survey has been released to gather input on what residents already know about pollinators and beneficial insects, the challenges they face in their gardens, and which resources or classes would be most helpful. The feedback will directly influence the topics, formats, and materials included in the upcoming program, ensuring it is tailored to real community concerns.
County officials say the goal is to empower residents with science-based information that supports healthier gardens while protecting the insects that play a critical role in local ecosystems and food production.
Residents are encouraged to participate by completing the short survey, which will help guide the future of gardening education in Manatee County.
