Convicted Felon Found Guilty of Machine Gun Possession Following Bradenton Investigation
A Manatee County jury has found Jibri Arrington, 33, guilty of possession of a machine gun and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, following an investigation involving the Bradenton Police Department, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
The case originated on December 15, 2024, when a Bradenton Police Department Crime Reduction Team officer responded to a report of an improperly parked vehicle in the 300 block of 13th Street West. During the response, the officer observed a firearm and a high-capacity magazine in plain view on the vehicle’s floorboard.
Further examination determined the weapon was a Glock handgun equipped with an aftermarket device commonly known as a switch, which converts a semi-automatic pistol into a fully automatic firearm classified as a machine gun under federal law. The vehicle’s owner denied ownership of the weapon.
A subsequent investigation identified Arrington, who had been a passenger in the vehicle, as the owner of the firearm. He was taken into custody in August 2025.
According to investigators, Arrington has a prior conviction for attempted murder in Sarasota County. He was released from prison in 2023 and was on probation at the time of his arrest in this case.
Prosecutors with the State Attorney’s Office, 12th Judicial Circuit, presented the case to the jury, which returned guilty verdicts on both charges. Arrington now faces a potential prison sentence of up to 15 years.
