Countywide Burn Ban Extended Through December 29 as Dry Conditions Persist
As residents prepare to celebrate Christmas and gather with family and friends, officials are reminding the community that a countywide burn ban remains in effect due to ongoing dry conditions.
The burn ban has been extended through Monday, December 29, at 11:59 p.m., as the risk of brush and wildfire spread remains elevated across the region. Authorities stress that even small, unattended flames can quickly escalate under current conditions.
While most open burning is prohibited, several activities are still allowed when conducted responsibly and with proper supervision or approval. These include attended grills and outdoor cookers, Florida Forest Service–approved agricultural or land-clearing burns, properly permitted public fireworks displays with on-site fire suppression resources, and flares discharged over the Gulf.
County officials are urging residents and visitors to take extra precautions throughout the holiday season, noting that compliance with the burn ban is critical to protecting neighborhoods, natural areas, and first responders.
The burn ban applies countywide and will remain in place unless conditions improve or officials announce further updates. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prioritize safety as holiday festivities continue.
