Crime Drops 19.7% in Manatee County in 2025, Continuing Historic Decline
Overall crime in Manatee County fell 19.7% from 2024 to 2025, marking another significant decrease and continuing a downward trend in reported offenses.
According to data released by the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, both violent and property crimes saw notable reductions over the past year. Violent crime overall declined by 22.6%, with murder down 30%, robbery down 39.6%, and aggravated assault down 23.6%.
Property crime also showed substantial improvement, dropping 18.8% overall. Larceny decreased by 16.1%, vehicle theft fell 31.9%, and burglary was down 27.3% compared to 2024.
Sheriff Rick Wells credited the progress to the dedication of deputies and staff, as well as continued collaboration with the community.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the men and women of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office for their tireless dedication to keeping our community safe. Their hard work and commitment are the reason we’ve seen another historic drop in crime,” Wells said.
Officials attribute the sustained decline to focused enforcement strategies, proactive policing efforts, and strong partnerships with residents and community organizations.
The Sheriff’s Office stated it remains committed to maintaining the momentum and continuing efforts to protect neighborhoods throughout Manatee County.
