De Soto Grand Parade Set to Draw 100,000 Spectators to Downtown Bradenton
Bradenton is preparing for one of its most anticipated annual traditions as the Hernando de Soto Historical Society hosts the Grand Parade on Saturday, April 25. Known as one of the largest and oldest parades in the Southeastern United States, the event is expected to draw more than 100,000 spectators who will line Manatee Avenue to watch illuminated floats roll through the city after sunset.
The celebration will begin earlier in the day with a downtown pre-party starting at 3:30 p.m., creating a festive atmosphere throughout the city as families, visitors, and community groups gather ahead of the main event. The Grand Parade will step off at 7:30 p.m., featuring brightly lit floats, marching groups, and community organizations participating in the long-standing Bradenton tradition.
A highlight of the evening includes appearances by the newly selected Hernando de Soto, the Captain of the Crewe, and the newly crowned Queen and Princess. As floats pass through the parade route, spectators can expect the familiar excitement of beads and coins tossed into the crowd, along with music and performances that help make the event a signature celebration in Manatee County.
Local businesses and organizations still have time to participate by entering a float, providing an opportunity to showcase their brand to thousands of families attending the event.
The De Soto Grand Parade continues to serve as a centerpiece of the annual De Soto Heritage Festival, bringing together residents and visitors for a night of community pride, tradition, and celebration in downtown Bradenton.
