The Hernando de Soto Historical Society is inviting young women ages 18 to 22 to learn more about joining the 2027 De Soto Queen’s Court during an upcoming information social.
The event will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. at the Bradenton Yacht Club, 4307 13th St. W. in Palmetto. Parents and guardians are also welcome to attend.
The De Soto Queen’s Court program offers participants opportunities to develop leadership skills, serve the community and build friendships while representing the Hernando de Soto Historical Society. Court members serve as goodwill ambassadors throughout the spring and take part in activities connected with the annual De Soto Heritage Festival.
Each court member receives a $750 scholarship, with additional scholarships awarded to the young women selected as Queen and Princess.
For more than 75 years, the De Soto Heritage Festival has included the Queen’s Court as part of its traditions, recognizing young women for their involvement, leadership and community service.
The Nov. 1 information social will allow prospective applicants and their families to learn more about the program and what is involved in serving on the 2027 court.
Additional information, applications and RSVP details are available through the Hernando de Soto Historical Society at desotohq.com.
