Defibrillate Manatee Foundation Launches Fundraising Campaign to Equip Search and Rescue Teams with AEDs
The Defibrillate Manatee Foundation has launched a fundraising initiative to provide 15 Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to Manatee County Search and Rescue (MCSAR). This effort aims to ensure that all MCSAR vehicles are equipped with these life-saving devices, enhancing emergency response capabilities in the county.
An AED is a critical tool used during cardiac emergencies, delivering an electric shock to restore normal heart rhythm. The Defibrillate Manatee Foundation has donated more than 200 AEDs to various non-profit organizations and contributed 30 AED simulators, 30 CPR mannequins, and CPR certification for over 125 individuals.
The foundation relies on community donations to continue its mission, as the cost of AEDs is over $1,700 per unit. Donations to the campaign are 100% tax-deductible and are accepted through the Manatee Community Foundation’s website, ManateeCF.org. Funds raised will go directly toward the purchase of AEDs for non-profit organizations at no cost to recipients.
