Deputies Seek Public’s Help Identifying Suspect in Wallet and Phone Theft at Bayshore Gardens Target
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect connected to the theft of a wallet and cellphone left behind by a shopper at the Target Bayshore Gardens.
According to investigators, a shopper accidentally left their wallet and phone inside a shopping cart at the store located at 6150 14th Street West around 5 p.m. on December 19. Instead of turning the items in to store staff or contacting law enforcement, the suspect allegedly took possession of the cart and entered the store.
Surveillance footage shows the individual entering Target at approximately 5:20 p.m. with the cart and later removing the wallet from it. Authorities say the items were not reported as found, prompting an investigation.
Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the individual captured on surveillance to contact the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office at 941-747-3011, extension 2260. Public tips may help deputies identify the suspect and resolve the case.
