Dr. Mona Jain Middle School Student Arrested for Written Threats to Kill
A 13-year-old student from Dr. Mona Jain Middle School was arrested on the evening of October 17th after law enforcement received multiple tips regarding a threat posted on an instant messaging app. The student, Parker Reno, was identified as the suspect following an investigation by detectives and later confessed to making the threat.
The tips were reported through FortifyFL, a platform that allows users to anonymously submit information about potential dangers in schools. Reno admitted to making the threat out of frustration from being bullied. Deputies conducted a search of his residence, but no firearms were discovered.
Reno has been charged with written or electronic threats to kill, which is a second-degree felony, and was transported to the Juvenile Booking Facility. Sheriff Ricks Wells has emphasized the need for parents to discuss with their children the serious and life-altering consequences of making threats against schools.
Law enforcement will continue to provide additional security at schools whenever threats are reported, underscoring the priority placed on the safety and well-being of students and staff.
