Drivers Urged to Slow Down as School Zones Reactivate Ahead of Manatee County School Year
With the start of the new school year just around the corner, motorists are being reminded to prepare for the return of active school zones throughout Manatee County.
Students in the School District of Manatee County are scheduled to return to class on Monday, Aug. 10, bringing back flashing school zone lights and reduced speed limits in areas surrounding campuses. Drivers are encouraged to begin adjusting their routines now to help keep students safe as they walk, bike and ride buses to school.
Officials recommend leaving home a few minutes earlier to avoid feeling rushed during the morning commute. Motorists are also urged to eliminate distractions, including cell phones, and remain alert for children crossing streets, waiting at bus stops or riding bicycles near intersections.
