Early Childhood A Successful Feature At LRHS
Lakewood Ranch High School’s (LRHS) “Mini Mustangs” program gives aspiring educators a unique opportunity to get a hands-on experience before they even graduate.

Through the LRHS Early Childhood Education (ECE) program, Mustangs interested in careers working with young children can learn in a real world setting by helping teach the school’s very own preschool class, also known as the Mini Mustangs.
The program operates a dedicated Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) classroom on campus. Here, the Mini Mustangs come to learn, play, and prepare for kindergarten under the guidance of certified early childhood teacher Sarah Lay.
Assisting in the classroom are Mustangs enrolled in Early Childhood Education 2 and 3 who take part in lesson planning, classroom management, and child development activities.
ECE has become an essential program in the county and only exists at LRHS.
The ECE program offers four classes:
ECE 1 with 109 students
ECE 2 with 43 students
ECE 3 with 45 students
ECE 4 with 30 students
