Elderly Woman Dies in Apparent Drowning on Longboat Key Beach

LONGBOAT KEY — Authorities are investigating the death of an elderly woman who was found unresponsive near the beach at The Resort at Longboat Key Club on Thursday evening.

Emergency responders were dispatched to 220 Sand Point Road shortly before 6 p.m. after a report of a possible drowning. When police and paramedics arrived on the scene, CPR was already in progress. Despite life-saving efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is being treated as a death investigation. Police have not released the woman’s identity, and the circumstances surrounding the apparent drowning remain under review.
