Erie Road Expansion Breaks Ground in Parrish as Major Infrastructure Project Begins
PARRISH, FL—Construction is now underway on the East Segment of the Erie Road Improvements Project in Parrish, a significant infrastructure upgrade that will improve road safety, traffic flow, and stormwater management in the growing community.
The $30 million project focuses on the stretch of Erie Road between US 301 and Martha Road, directly adjacent to Parrish Community High School and the future site of the State College of Florida campus. This section will expand the road from two to four lanes and include a 22-foot-wide raised median, curbs, gutters, and a wide shared-use path along the south side of the corridor.
A new high-emphasis crosswalk signal will be installed at Martha Road, and a fully closed drainage system with stormwater ponds will be constructed to enhance flood control and environmental resilience.
The East Segment is expected to be completed by fall 2026.
Following completion, Manatee County will begin work on the West Segment, which extends from Martha Road to 69th Street East in Palmetto. That phase will feature roundabouts at Harrison Ranch Boulevard and the planned Sawgrass Road, with a matching sidewalk design to ensure continuity throughout the corridor.
County officials say the improvements are essential to supporting increased traffic from new developments and educational institutions in northeast Manatee County.
